An intimate microwedding at AFDA in Puerto Rico captured with love and care. From heartfelt moments during the ceremony to magical Golden Hour photos on a beach deck, this day showcased the beauty of Puerto Rico wedding venues. Discover the charm of microweddings and the value of hiring a professional Puerto Rico wedding photographer for your special day.
Elegant luxury.
As a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless love stories, but there’s something uniquely special about being part of a client’s journey over the years. This recent wedding is a perfect example of that bond. Two years ago, I photographed Jennifer’s daughter’s first birthday. Fast forward to today, and I had the honor of documenting her wedding day. From the moment she reached out, it was clear this would be a day filled with love, intimacy, and a story worth telling—even if some of the most personal moments remain behind closed doors.
Be my swan.
Jennifer is a private person, someone who values her privacy above all else. When she asked me to be her wedding photographer, she had one condition: no photos of her, her husband, or her daughter would appear on my social media or website. For photographers, sharing our work is vital to showcase our craft and keep up with the ever-evolving industry. However, respecting my client’s wishes was more important, so we reached a compromise. The images I’m sharing in this blog focus on the stunning details of the day—the venue, the decor, and the magical atmosphere that made this wedding unforgettable.
Il concerto.
The wedding took place at AFDA, a picturesque fraternity venue nestled in Puerto Rico. Arriving early, I captured the serene beauty of the space—its rustic charm, the warmth of the natural wooden elements, and the golden light spilling through the trees. This venue proved to be a perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding of 75-80 guests. The small guest list didn’t diminish the grandeur of the day; in fact, the love and joy in the air made it feel monumental.
Party like it’s 2025.
Before Jennifer’s arrival, I had the chance to meet John, the groom. His calm demeanor and warm smile spoke volumes about the love he felt for Jennifer. Moments like this remind me why I love wedding photography—the quiet, unscripted interactions that tell a story all their own. As Jennifer stepped out of the car, emotions overtook her. Tears flowed freely, a raw and beautiful expression of the love and excitement she felt for this moment.
Father knows best.
After the heartfelt ceremony, we moved to the reception hall for family portraits. It was here that Jennifer shared a delightful surprise: she was expecting her second child! Her radiant smile and barely noticeable baby bump added another layer of joy to the day.
Bear hug.
As the sun began to set, we made our way to the venue’s wooden beach deck, leading to the sand and shimmering water. Golden Hour in Puerto Rico is nothing short of magical, and the images I captured during this time are some of my favorite from the day. Although I can’t share these photos due to our agreement, I can say they perfectly encapsulate the romance and tranquility of this intimate celebration.
Hold hands through the process.
The rest of the evening unfolded with heartfelt toasts, warm embraces, and a tender first dance. Microweddings hold a special place in my heart because they allow for a more hands-on approach and room for creativity. The smaller scale gives couples the chance to focus on what truly matters: their love and the people closest to them.

A Perfect Surprise Marriage Proposal in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico: Peter and Debora’s Story
Join me as I recount Peter’s heartfelt surprise marriage proposal in Puerto Rico to Debora, his love of three years. From iconic Old San Juan backdrops to intimate golden-hour portraits, this story showcases the magic of proposals on the island. Perfect for those seeking inspiration and the expertise of a seasoned Puerto Rico photographer. Discover why photographers in Puerto Rico adore these timeless moments!
The waiting game.
Every once in a while, as a Puerto Rico photographer, you’re invited into a story so heartwarming that it leaves an imprint long after the session ends. Such was the case when Peter reached out to me with a heartfelt plan to propose to his girlfriend of three years, Debora. Their love story, which began in Arlington, Virginia, was set to take a monumental turn in Puerto Rico—Debora’s birthplace and a location rich with romance, history, and charm.
Smells like a yes.
Peter’s email revealed that the couple would be staying at the iconic Hotel El Convento in Old San Juan, a former convent transformed into a boutique luxury hotel. Its historic walls and breathtaking surroundings make it a coveted spot for photographers in Puerto Rico, and Peter was eager to create a memorable moment that Debora would cherish forever. However, like most significant plans, the proposal’s journey was filled with unexpected twists.
Almost there…
A few days after our initial exchange, Peter and I met in person at the hotel to finalize the details. Though Peter’s excitement was palpable, I could tell he was feeling the weight of this once-in-a-lifetime event. Hotel El Convento had suggested reserving a spot at their partner property, Palacio Provincial, which boasts a rooftop with stunning views of Old San Juan’s historic skyline. We decided to scope out the location during Golden Hour to assess the lighting and angles, as any seasoned Puerto Rico wedding photographer knows how crucial these elements are to capturing magic.
Inching closer…
When we arrived, the rooftop’s charm was undeniable, yet something felt off to Peter. He couldn’t picture this as the backdrop for his grand gesture. Recognizing his hesitation, I suggested exploring other nearby locations to find the perfect spot. Together, we wandered through the cobblestone streets, considering picturesque alternatives until we stumbled upon La Rogativa. This outdoor plaza, adjacent to the Governor’s Mansion, offered stunning views and an intimate ambiance. It’s a favored spot for ceremonies and proposals alike. However, fate threw another curveball: a wedding ceremony was being set up there on the very day Peter planned to propose.
The joint disbelief.
Undeterred, Peter made a last-minute decision to choose a small, tucked-away spot just a few feet from the original venue. As a Puerto Rico photographer familiar with the area, I instantly knew where he was referring to and began mentally planning how to work around its consistent backlighting. Challenges like these are what make surprise marriage proposals in Puerto Rico so thrilling to document—and rewarding when everything comes together.
On one knee…
The day of the proposal was charged with emotion. Peter was visibly nervous, but after a few reassuring words and a reminder to savor the moment, he seemed to find his footing. Debora arrived hand-in-hand with her best friend, looking radiant in a white dress. Unbeknownst to her, she was mere moments away from one of the most significant events of her life. When Peter finally got down on one knee, Debora’s reaction was a mix of shock, joy, and humor—expressions so vivid and heartfelt that I couldn’t help but laugh along as I captured them.
She said yes!
As Debora said “yes,” the moment unfolded like a scene from a movie. Her parents, who had been watching from a distance, rushed to embrace their daughter. Phones were pulled out, FaceTime calls were made, and tears flowed freely. It was a quintessential example of why surprise marriage proposals in Puerto Rico are so unforgettable: the blend of emotional authenticity and stunning scenery creates something truly magical.
Cheers to the future son-in-law.
Once the initial excitement settled, I whisked Peter and Debora away for an intimate portrait session. There’s something special about capturing couples right after a proposal; the raw emotions and newfound glow are unparalleled. Debora was still shaking with excitement, making it a challenge to photograph her gorgeous engagement ring, but the candid moments we shared were priceless.
She still can’t believe it!
As the sun dipped below the horizon, we regrouped with their family and friends for some celebratory portraits. The golden light painted the sky in hues of pink and orange, a perfect backdrop for the occasion. To add a modern twist, I used flash photography to create trendy, paparazzi-style shots that have become increasingly popular among couples. The result? A gallery of images that captured every ounce of love, joy, and excitement from that unforgettable evening.
In awe of reality.
The day concluded back at Palacio Provincial’s rooftop, where Peter and Debora shared their happy news with loved ones. The weather was idyllic, and the atmosphere was electric with celebration. As a Puerto Rico wedding photographer, moments like these remind me why I love what I do: the opportunity to witness and document life’s most meaningful milestones.
Wholesome sunset.
Peter and Debora’s proposal was a testament to the power of love and spontaneity. It’s a story I’ll cherish for years to come, and I wish them nothing but the best as they embark on this new chapter together. If you’re considering a surprise marriage proposal in Puerto Rico, know that the possibilities are endless, and the memories you create will be as vibrant and enduring as the island itself.
Epic.
A Stunning Holiday Wedding at Hotel El Guajataca in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico
Attention to details
As a destination wedding photographer in Puerto Rico, I have the privilege of capturing love stories in some of the most breathtaking locations. One recent experience that stands out is the enchanting wedding of Marimée and Addiel, held at the beautiful Hotel El Guajataca in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. This unforgettable event was the culmination of months of anticipation and meticulous planning, and it’s a testament to why Puerto Rico is a premier destination for couples looking to tie the knot.
The Journey Begins
Help me out, bro.
Our journey with Marimée began nine months ago at the Caribbean Bridal Expo, held at the iconic Puerto Rico Convention Center. She stopped by our booth, drawn by the portfolio of wedding photography and cinematic wedding films on display. Pregnant and glowing, Marimée shared her vision for a holiday wedding, and she instantly connected with our top photography and videography package. From that moment, we began counting down the days until we could create something truly spectacular together.
Discovering Hotel El Guajataca
The ladies.
This week, the big day finally arrived, and it was my first time visiting Hotel El Guajataca in Quebradillas. The scenic drive—an hour and a half from my home—was as serene as the location itself. With its stunning ocean views and charming ambiance, the hotel proved to be the perfect backdrop for a destination wedding in Puerto Rico. Joined by my talented second shooter, Carola, we arrived early to acquaint ourselves with the venue and connect with the other vendors, including the wedding planner and DJ. Coordination with these professionals ensured a seamless day.
Pre-Wedding Preparations
Pour me one too.
The day began with capturing detail shots of the bride’s and groom’s preparations. As a seasoned Puerto Rico wedding photographer, I know these moments are precious, showcasing the emotions and anticipation leading up to the ceremony. While Carola photographed the reception hall, I focused on the bride’s intricate details, from her gown to her jewelry. Despite the cozy size of the hotel rooms, we utilized every corner creatively, proving that adaptability is a must in wedding photography.
A Sunlit Outdoor Ceremony
So good.
The outdoor ceremony venue was nothing short of magical. Although the threat of rain loomed for a brief moment, the skies cleared, leaving us with a picturesque setting. The only challenge was the backlit situation caused by the setting sun, but with our expertise, Carola and I were able to turn this into an advantage, creating stunning silhouettes and beautifully lit moments. The ceremony was heartfelt and intimate, a true reflection of Marimée and Addiel’s love story.
Family Portraits and Golden Hour Magic
Father and son moment.
Immediately following the ceremony, we moved to family and friends’ portraits under the stunning archway where Marimée and Addiel had just exchanged vows. Keeping everyone in one location before they dispersed to cocktail hour ensured efficiency and allowed us to capture a variety of group shots. Then came my favorite part of the day: the bride and groom’s sunset photo session. Descending the rustic stairs to the sandy beach, we embraced the golden hour’s warm glow. Carola led the session while I balanced ambient and artificial lighting with a handheld flash. The resulting portraits were nothing short of extraordinary.
A Vibrant Reception
What a magical moment.
The reception hall was alive with energy, featuring vibrant lighting, music, and joyous celebration. From entrances to the bouquet and garter tosses, every moment was filled with laughter and excitement. I employed my signature “shutter drag” technique, using a slow shutter speed combined with a front-facing flash to create dynamic, artistic effects with the surrounding lights. These images truly encapsulated the spirit of the evening.
A Dream Come True for Marimée and Addiel
What a great ritual.
Marimée and Addiel were overjoyed with the results of our work. They loved how we captured the essence of their special day, from the smallest details to the grandest moments. We’ve been sharing previews of their wedding gallery, and their enthusiasm has been infectious. It’s moments like these that remind me why I’m passionate about being a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico.

Jorge & Yellimar: An Unforgettable Wedding at Hacienda El Infinito
“I do…”
When it comes to creating memorable moments, being a Puerto Rico wedding photographer allows me to witness some of the most incredible love stories. Recently, I had the privilege of documenting a wedding that was unique not only for its heartfelt moments but also for how long the couple had planned ahead. This bride and groom’s story began years before their special day, and it was a journey filled with serendipity, excitement, and meticulous attention to detail. It’s weddings like these that remind me why I fell in love with capturing such meaningful occasions.
The bride and I first met during an art gallery event I was photographing for a colleague. She was the bartender hired for the evening, and as the crowd ebbed and flowed, we found time for small talk. Intrigued by my work, she asked for my Instagram handle. A few months later, she reached out, excitedly sharing that she had been following my portfolio and was now engaged to be married. It’s always humbling when clients come to you as fans, trusting your artistry to capture their big day. As a Puerto Rico wedding photographer, moments like these are a testament to the power of connection.
It’s all in the details
Our first virtual meeting included both the bride and her fiancé, and we instantly clicked. The couple’s enthusiasm for their upcoming wedding was contagious, and I knew from the start that this was going to be a special journey. They shared their vision for the day, and it became clear that their wedding would be a reflection of their personalities and love story. Planning everything so far in advance gave us the unique opportunity to build a strong rapport, which is something wedding photographers in Puerto Rico cherish as it allows for more personalized storytelling.
The wedding day was meticulously planned and included three distinct locations, each of which showcased the beauty of Puerto Rico’s landscapes and wedding venues. Our day began at Hacienda El Infinito, a luxurious Airbnb nestled in the heart of the island. This breathtaking venue served as the perfect backdrop for the couple’s getting-ready photos and an emotional first look. With its expansive views and serene atmosphere, Hacienda El Infinito stands out as one of the top wedding venues in Puerto Rico for couples seeking an intimate yet elegant setting.
She helped raise her.
After capturing the heartfelt preparations and first look, we moved on to the church for the ceremony. The atmosphere was cozy, with a select friends and witnessing the couple’s vows. The church’s stunning architecture added a timeless charm to the photos, and the emotions of the day were palpable. As a Puerto Rico wedding photographer, documenting such sacred moments is always an honor. The love and support surrounding the couple were a reminder of how weddings bring people together in the most beautiful way.
The final stop of the day was Sevilla Restaurant, an intimate venue that provided the perfect setting for their reception. The ambiance and elegant decor made it a night to remember. The couple’s first dance, heartfelt toasts, and joyful celebrations were the highlights of the evening. Wedding photographers in Puerto Rico are fortunate to work with venues like Sevilla, where the charm of the island’s hospitality shines through. It was a pleasure to see the couple’s vision come to life in such a warm and inviting space.
Throughout the day, my second shooter, Carola, and I worked tirelessly to ensure every moment was captured. From candid shots of the bridal party to the intricate details of the decor, we left no stone unturned. Collaboration is key for wedding photographers in Puerto Rico, especially when working across multiple locations. Having a skilled second shooter allowed us to cover more ground and deliver a comprehensive gallery of memories for the couple.
One of the unique aspects of this wedding was the extended timeline we had to build a relationship with the couple. Over the months leading up to the big day, we met periodically to discuss plans, visit venues, and refine their photography preferences. This level of preparation is invaluable for a Puerto Rico wedding photographer, as it ensures that the couple’s vision is fully realized. It also made the wedding day feel less like work and more like celebrating with friends.
Stunning.
Reflecting on this experience, I am grateful for the trust the couple placed in me to document their journey. Being part of such a well-planned and heartfelt celebration was a career highlight. The variety of settings, from Hacienda El Infinito to Sevilla Restaurant, showcased the diversity of wedding venues in Puerto Rico and how they can accommodate different aspects of a wedding day. It’s a reminder of why Puerto Rico is such a sought-after destination for weddings.
For couples considering tying the knot on this beautiful island, the possibilities are endless. From luxurious haciendas to charming restaurants and historic churches, wedding venues in Puerto Rico offer something for everyone. As a Puerto Rico wedding photographer, I’m here to help bring your vision to life and ensure your love story is told through timeless images. If you’re dreaming of a destination wedding, let’s connect and make it unforgettable.

Capturing Romance Through a Cinematic Lens: Introducing Glasgow
Introducing 'Glasgow': my new editing style as a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico who want a more cinematic, fine art look to their pictures.
Kiara & Matt in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
As a Puerto Rico wedding photographer, I've had the privilege of photographing some of the most vibrant and colorful weddings in one of the most naturally stunning locations in the world. The tropical scenery, rich cultural heritage, and breathtaking beaches have often inspired me to keep my images true to color, allowing the natural beauty of Puerto Rico to shine through. However, like many artists, I've found myself drawn toward a new creative direction, one that channels the quiet, intimate elegance often seen in European landscapes.
Enter 'Glasgow,' a new branch of my wedding photography portfolio, designed specifically for couples who are in search of something different. Inspired by European photographers who capture love stories amidst the small cities of Italy, the timeless villas of Spain, and the rugged highlands of Scotland, 'Glasgow' embraces a more muted, desaturated color palette that reflects the understated romance of these storied locations.
Cara getting ready in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
The photographs within this style evoke a sense of intimacy and timelessness. Each frame is carefully composed to resemble a still from a classic film, with subtle hues and softened contrasts that speak to quiet moments rather than grand gestures. In these images, you'll find an emphasis on natural light, gentle textures, and a mood that is almost ethereal—perfect for couples seeking a wedding gallery that feels cinematic and personal.
For couples who value romance and emotion over extravagance, this style will resonate deeply. If you dream of your wedding photos capturing not just the big moments, but the fleeting, tender exchanges—the brush of a hand, a glance across the room, the soft smiles shared in private—then 'Glasgow' is the aesthetic that will speak to your heart. The desaturated tones give each image a timeless quality, much like a cherished love letter kept safe through the years.
3D Photography in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
While many wedding photographers in Puerto Rico are known for the bold, vibrant colors often seen in tropical weddings, this approach offers something entirely different. 'Glasgow' stands out by embracing a minimalist yet deeply romantic aesthetic, perfect for couples who may be drawn to the subtle beauty of European landscapes but want to experience that same sense of elegance in Puerto Rico.
The cinematic undertone in these photos is not accidental. I carefully edit each gallery to ensure that every image feels like a still from a love story captured on film, with the soft grain and muted highlights that bring out the emotions shared between two people on their wedding day. This style allows me to focus on the connection between the couple rather than the background, giving the images an air of exclusivity and emotional depth.
Tom getting ready in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
Couples who are planning smaller, more intimate weddings may find this style particularly appealing. The soft, muted tones lend themselves well to elopements, destination weddings, and ceremonies where the focus is on close connections rather than large, traditional celebrations. Whether you’re getting married in a historic villa or a hidden garden, the 'Glasgow' aesthetic turns each venue into the perfect backdrop for a love story.
In terms of mood, this look is all about creating images that feel as though they could exist out of time. By desaturating the colors and embracing a more understated approach to light, I aim to create a sense of stillness and reflection in each photograph, allowing the emotions of the day to take center stage.
Kiara & Matt in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
While my true-to-color portfolio will always remain for those who want to embrace the vibrancy of Puerto Rico, 'Glasgow' offers a softer, more introspective option for couples who want their wedding photos to feel as intimate as their love story. It’s a style that will appeal to those who appreciate classic films, timeless romance, and the kind of wedding photography that feels like it could be framed as fine art.
For couples looking for something less traditional yet deeply romantic, 'Glasgow' provides the perfect blend of modern elegance and timeless beauty. Whether your wedding is set against the backdrop of Puerto Rico’s natural wonders or another equally captivating destination, this style will ensure that your photos remain a testament to your love, captured in a way that feels both cinematic and enduring.
