Our journey with Marimée began nine months ago at the Caribbean Bridal Expo, held at the iconic Puerto Rico Convention Center. She stopped by our booth, drawn by the portfolio of wedding photography and cinematic wedding films on display. Pregnant and glowing, Marimée shared her vision for a holiday wedding, and she instantly connected with our top photography and videography package. From that moment, we began counting down the days until we could create something truly spectacular together.

This week, the big day finally arrived, and it was my first time visiting Hotel El Guajataca in Quebradillas. The scenic drive—an hour and a half from my home—was as serene as the location itself. With its stunning ocean views and charming ambiance, the hotel proved to be the perfect backdrop for a destination wedding in Puerto Rico. Joined by my talented second shooter, Carola, we arrived early to acquaint ourselves with the venue and connect with the other vendors, including the wedding planner and DJ. Coordination with these professionals ensured a seamless day.
Pre-Wedding Preparations

The day began with capturing detail shots of the bride’s and groom’s preparations. The outdoor ceremony venue was nothing short of magical. Although the threat of rain loomed for a brief moment, the skies cleared, leaving us with a picturesque setting. The only challenge was the backlit situation caused by the setting sun, but with our expertise, Carola and I were able to turn this into an advantage, creating stunning silhouettes and beautifully lit moments. The ceremony was heartfelt and intimate, a true reflection of Marimée and Addiel’s love story.

Immediately following the ceremony, we moved to family and friends’ portraits under the stunning archway where Marimée and Addiel had just exchanged vows. Keeping everyone in one location before they dispersed to cocktail hour ensured efficiency and allowed us to capture a variety of group shots. Then came my favorite part of the day: the bride and groom’s sunset photo session. Descending the rustic stairs to the sandy beach, we embraced the golden hour’s warm glow. Carola led the session while I balanced ambient and artificial lighting with a handheld flash. The resulting portraits were nothing short of extraordinary.

From entrances to the bouquet and garter tosses, every moment was filled with laughter and excitement. I employed my signature “shutter drag” technique, using a slow shutter speed combined with a front-facing flash to create dynamic, artistic effects with the surrounding lights. These images truly encapsulated the spirit of the evening.
