     After the ceremony, it’s time for group portraits, which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on the number of combinations and the size of the families. A pre-determined shot list is invaluable here to keep things organized and efficient, minimizing the time guests are standing around. Start with large group shots and work your way down to smaller, more intimate combinations, which allows elderly guests or young children to be photographed early and then released. This segment often runs smoother when a family member or wedding planner helps to gather people quickly. Lighting and location are key; if possible, choose a spot near the ceremony site that offers shade and diffused light to avoid harsh shadows and squinting. One of the things I give out as homework as a professional photographer in Puerto Rico is providing me with what I call a ‘shot list’: essentially a list of groupings for both your family and friends so that we’re both efficient and effective with our time.

6. Private Couple Session

     This session is a chance for the couple to enjoy some quiet moments together away from the guests, usually after the ceremony or during cocktail hour. It’s an opportunity to capture romantic, intimate portraits without the pressure of a timeline looming over them. Allocate about 30 minutes for this session, but be flexible, as the mood and lighting can vary. A good photographer will guide the couple into natural poses that showcase their personalities and connection, making use of the venue’s best features. Whether it’s a stunning sunset, a charming garden, or an architectural backdrop, this session is about creating timeless images that reflect the couple's unique bond. It’s also a chance for the couple to breathe and savor the reality of being newly married. One of the best things that a couple can do for me as a photographer in Puerto Rico is arrange for a solid half hour with their wedding planner because some of the best pictures from the day are shot during this timeframe.

7. Cocktail Hour

     While the couple is taking private portraits, guests typically enjoy a cocktail hour. This is a time for light refreshments, mingling, and relaxation before the reception begins. It usually lasts about an hour and provides a great opportunity for candid photos of guests interacting, enjoying hors d'oeuvres, and exploring the venue. Consider live music or entertainment to keep the atmosphere lively. It’s also a good time for photographers to capture detail shots of the reception setup before guests take their seats. A well-planned cocktail hour allows guests to transition smoothly from the formality of the ceremony to the celebration of the reception, setting a relaxed and joyous tone for the evening. As as wedding photographer in Puerto Rico, it’s safe to say that while family and friends are cooling off during cocktail hour, I can usually be found taking this precious time with the couple for a private photo shoot.

8. Reception Entrances, First Dances, and Toasts

     The reception kicks off with grand entrances, where the wedding party and the newlyweds make their debut. This is usually followed by the first dance, which can be one of the most memorable parts of the evening. Allocate about 30 minutes for these opening events, including the entrance, first dance, father-daughter and mother-son dances, and toasts. Timing is key to keep the momentum flowing, and it’s important to coordinate with the DJ or band to ensure smooth transitions between each segment. Toasts are a highlight, offering heartfelt, often humorous insights into the couple’s journey. These moments are filled with emotion, providing rich opportunities for capturing reactions from both the couple and their guests. Destination weddings in Puerto Rico usually do not skip this step as it is one of the most anticipated because of how jovial it is in nature.

9. Dinner

     Dinner service typically follows the toasts and is a time for everyone to relax and enjoy a meal together. Depending on the style of service—plated, buffet, or family-style—dinner can last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. This is a quieter time in the reception, allowing guests to recharge and enjoy conversations. It’s also an opportunity for photographers to capture candid moments of guests enjoying themselves at the table. Ensure the meal service aligns with the overall flow of the evening; timing is crucial so that the evening doesn’t feel rushed or drag on too long. Couples should also plan to eat early in the service so they can visit tables or take a few more photos without missing the chance to enjoy their own meal. Admittedly, as a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico I usually refrain from taking a lot of pictures during the dinner portion of the wedding day because the last thing I’d like to capture is people chewing with their mouths full.

10. Reception Dancing

     Once dinner wraps up, the dance floor opens, and it’s time for the party to really get started. A well-timed transition from dinner to dancing keeps the energy up and guests engaged. Typically, this segment can last for a few hours, interspersed with other events like the cake cutting, bouquet toss, or any cultural traditions the couple wishes to include. The goal is to keep the dance floor lively and accessible, with a mix of music that caters to all ages and tastes. Coordinating with the DJ or band to maintain a fun and energetic atmosphere is key, as this is where many of the most joyful and candid moments of the day happen. The reception usually winds down with a grand exit or last dance, sending the couple off in style. One of my favorite style of photography for the reception is performing what’s called ‘shutter drag’ which is when I make an otherwise boring scenario seem lively with an in-camera technique as seen above.

Boudoir Photography in Puerto Rico: The First of Many?

     So there I am editing my life away in my home studio when my Instagram notifications go off. At first, I didn’t think much of it because it happens all day but this wasn’t just any notification: it was a direct message. Since I’m on my computer, I slide on over to my browser and I open it. Like with many approaches, I could’ve bet anything in the world that it was yet another spammer from the many people that often slide in there selling me their services. This guy, however, went straight to the point:

Are you taking on any more business?

     Admittedly, I was a little hesitant to even respond but it just so happened to be simultaneous with a scheduled break that I afforded myself so I decided to engage him in conversation. “Depends on what kind and when”, I replied. The more I talked to “this person”, the more human he became. One things leads to another and all of a sudden he’s asking me if I could hop on a quick call; I happily oblige. “Hi, my name is ‘John’ (real name hidden for privacy purposes) and I’m a talent recruiter based out of Miami. One of my girls just moved from Los Angeles, California to Puerto Rico and looking to add to her portfolio. Are you available?”

That look...

     In all honesty, I had never seen myself shooting gorgeous ladies on a beach seeing as how I’m a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico but the idea of venturing outside of my comfort zone and expanding my perspective was definitely something I’d consider. I provided ‘John’ a resounding yes and immediately met ‘Jennifer’ (pictured) via a Facetime call so that we could get to know each other and set expectations. We agreed to meet in Piñones, Loiza two days from the call during what’s known as ‘Golden Hour’: those famous sixty minutes prior to sunset that photographers in Puerto Rico absolutely love.

     When I made the decision to take ‘Jennifer’ on as a client, I knew I couldn’t do it alone. As a result, I reached out to Cami, a fellow destination wedding photographer in Puerto Rico, to assist me through the process with guidance and lighting. I picked her up at her place the day of the shoot and chit-chatted my life away with her; she actually went with me to Peru earlier this year on a photography retreat and felt like we clicked on all cylinders. Great girl and even greater photographer so I knew she was the right person to have around. We bonded over professional and personal conversations and, as soon as we arrived at the agreed upon pinpoint, we were amazed at the gorgeous day we were about to have.

     A few minutes passed and all of a sudden I see ‘Jennifer’ making her way down the sandy dunes towards us wearing a white bikini top and some Daisy Dukes. She’s got a big smile on her face and a bag full of what I can only assume are the different bikini pairings she said she’d bring. All three of us hi-fived hello, exchanged pleasantries and got straight to it because we were burning daylight quite literally. Since ‘Jennifer’ was pretty much ready to go, we started taking her portraits in natural lighting since sundown was just getting started and we still had plenty of light with which to work. I saw some greenery behind her on a sandy hill and proceeded to point her in that direction for the first few shots. As a Puerto Rico wedding photographer, I knew exactly how I wanted this to go but it felt different because having a model rely on my expertise is a little nerveracking, specially knowing she’ll probably be submitting these picts to talent agencies. It’s a great time to shine! 

Kicking things off.

     The plan all along was to take as many pictures of ‘Jennifer’ as humanly possible before I lost all ability to use the sunset to my advantage. We started out with her white bikini using ambient light but I knew deep down I was there for the sole purpose of making her look amazing using both ambient and flash photography. As a photographer in Puerto Rico, I know that people love to showcase our gorgeous island and use it as a backdrop to their stunning imagery therefore I whipped out the flash, assembled it even before she got there and got to work while Cami provided me with the assist. I slapped on the Godox trigger to my Canon camera, dialed in my settings and started taking some amazing portraits.

     I found some solace in the sense that not only it was my first time shooting a model like ‘Jennifer’ in this kind of environment but I was also humbled to know it was her first time having her picture professionally taken in this kind of environment. As expected, she was a little stiff seeing as how we had just met earlier that week virtually but as things progressed she started loosening up and revealing the hidden talent that I think she harbors deep inside for modeling. I could tell she was anxious to get the ball rolling that day and took Cami and my advice to heart from the get-go. She was very attentive to our instructions and was open to the idea of being led the whole time. 

Blue dreams

     Truth be told, I’ve always found a one-piece swimsuit to be more flattering on the female body. I think it hugs the curves in all the right places and accentuates a lady’s features more favorably than the bikinis do; personal preference, I suppose. With every changing outfit, Cami would help ‘Jennifer’ change behind the bushes (seen above) and I would never know what ensemble she’d come out with with every outfit change. Lo and behold, I see our model whip up this blue number which is a classic take on the woman’s swimsuit. I absolutely loved it. It’s elegant yet feminine so I decided to showcase it with natural sunlight, pairing the greenery in the background with the blues in the sky.

     As the afternoon went on, I realized ‘Jennifer’ was becoming more and more comfortable in her own skin. She was taking advice a bit quicker and even posing for the camera on her own which tells me she was acclimating to the environment quite well. Another outfit change later and we were onto a black bikini, this time a bit closer to the water. We had scoured the internet with different scenarios and poses which we wanted to replicate and went after each and every single one of them to the best of our abilities knowing that time wasn’t on our side. The faster the sun went down, the more power I had to produce with artificial lighting. It was getting to a point where my strobes were doing most of the heavy lifting but I was making sure as a Puerto Rico wedding photographer that I was using most of the little that was left.

Towards the end of our session together, ‘Jennifer’ resorted to taking her top off in a sensual, not sexual way. I was all for it as long as the photoshoot remained classy and professional. Unfortunately it inevitably drew the attention of some beachgoers; Cami had to block her from being spied on from a distance with our gigantic softbox. The last thing we want happening was for our talent to feel awkward when the initial intention of this get-together was to feel empowered. We did our best to handle the situation as we retained the glimpse of sunlight sneaking in through the blue tones in the sky that remained. The look that it gave us was undoubtedly one of my favorites from the entire hour together because it allows me to really make ‘Jennifer’ stand out as my focal point. I had an amazing time and I would not put it past me to pursue a career as a boudoir photographer in Puerto Rico. If you’re interested in getting together, feel free to reach out.

Charles & Jessica: ‘The Plan B’ Wedding at Hacienda Siesta Alegre

You and me, baby…

     Krizia Díaz, one of Puerto Rico’s best wedding planners, reached out to me last minute because one of her clients was on the fence about who to hire to document their wedding. Krizia and I have worked numerous times in the past and she knows I’ll always tend to her messages and emails. It turns out Charles and Jessica were looking to have their wedding day start at La Concha Renaissance Hotel and finish it at Hacienda Siesta Alegre. I look at my schedule and, to my surprise, I had nothing for that day so I quickly get on the computer and put together a proposal that I think might pique their interest. As expected, we immediately started bantering back and forth about how to perfect it and eventually landed on an agreement that would have us working together.

     I decided to schedule a virtual meeting shortly thereafter to break the ice, at least online, so that we could see face-to-face and get to know each other a little bit. Most of my couples travel to Puerto Rico to get married which means a Google Meet or Zoom session is the norm for my booking process. We were online for about an hour talking about their backstory, how they met and when as well as what their vision was for their special day; this is paramount for wedding photographers in Puerto Rico: I love knowing about how you see your wedding playing out so that my team and I can capture it just as you imagine.

     The plan, according to Krizia’s timeline was to show up at La Concha a bit early to take pictures of their details. Details, as you know, is one of my favorite things to shoot as a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico. It not only centers me but I usually show up really early for it because I enjoy getting creative with my flat lay mats and love doing so in a stress-free environment. To me it sets the tone for how I want the rest of the wedding to go and if I feel like I took great top down shots of their details, I feel empowered moving forward and the juices start flowing in my couple’s favor.

The details came out phenomenal! I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Shortly thereafter, I proceeded to ask Melina, the hair and makeup artist, about the duration of Jessica’s care so that I can determine if we were on schedule or a bit ahead. She didn’t have to say much as I glanced over at Jessica on the chair and could see for myself that she was basically looking like a princess. I took it upon myself to gather all of the lenses that I would need and headed to Charles’s room where he was getting ready with his boys on the other tower across the grounds. As you can imagine, the moment you waltz into the boys room is the instant where a cloud of cologne hits you like an uppercut. The party was already starting. I could sense it in the vibe.

One of the groomsmen introduced himself and tells me Charles is just jumping out of the shower awaiting my arrival. I then proceed to scope out the room in an attempt to decipher just how much natural light I have to work. Admittedly, the front part of the room was rather dim which eventually forced me to bounce some flash at a later point but the initial session with Charles provided me more than enough sunlight through the sliding door to capture the initial stages of his wedding. I must say his suit was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Not only was it perfectly colored (it had a light gray tone coupled with green highlights) but both his jacket and slacks had diagonal dual lines going across which one of his boys joked made him look like Eddie Murphy in “Coming to America”. Both Charles and I bursted out laughing but, at the end of the day, I really liked the ensemble. Very classy.

A little help…

     After Charles’s getting ready session, I head back out to my original destination of the ladies’s room in which Jessica was throwing on the dress for her opportunity to hop in front of my lenses all by herself. She looked glorious! Jessica had this headband (which you can appreciate above) that honestly put it all together; I don’t think her set up would’ve been complete without it. Since the bridesmaids and Mom were anxious to see her, we set up in the front part of the room so that we can do a bride first look with her leading ladies. It was so wholesome and I was very appreciative because I don’t get those requested as often as I think they should happen.

Once we got lots of pics from the girls having fun with the bride, we then stole her away with the few minutes we had before departing for a quick, private session with Jessica. Since her room was a better lit, I chose to place her by the window. In a perfect world we would’ve have the girls help out with her attire but Hacienda Siesta Alegre was calling and she was basically all dressed anyway so all that there was left to do is have her hang out by the window and have that majestic falloff of sun accentuate every sparkle on her dress. I haven’t come across such a well put together bride in a long time and the picture that ensue really do tell the whole story.

I must say that shortly before this portrait of Jessica was taken, Krizia had taken the liberty of telling me that she was already at Hacienda Siesta Alegre and it was an absolutely swamp. Unfortunately it had been raining non-stop the entire mid-afternoon and we were walking into a scenario none of us like to see on wedding day: heavy rain was expected. Jessica was apparently already informed when I told her which got her down a bit but, when these things happen, I take it upon myself to cheer up my couple and take matters into my own hands. I was hellbent on making light out of an otherwise adverse situation and determined to make their day memorable nonetheless. When the script gets tweaked at the last minute, destination wedding photographers like myself have to think on their feet.

About fifteen minutes later, once we were all packed, we hopped in the car and were off to the races. The idea was to get to the second wedding venue early so that we can scope out the grounds and determine just what kind of scenario we were facing. Krizia took the lead, as you can expect a wedding planner to do, and resorted to move onto ‘Plan B’: to have the ceremony ‘indoors’. This meant that we’d all gather in one of the salons in the back that was obviously covered but had cross ventilation as it was open to the sides. It didn’t feel like this because I, as well as the entourage, was sweating bullets. The head paired with the humidity was very tough to handle but we pulled through for a very heartwarming ceremony.

      After a classic departure from the grounds, Krizia’s timeline dictated we go straight to family and friends portraits. As a photographer in Puerto Rico, I know the importance of putting together what I call a ‘shot list’: this is the pairings of people with whom the bride and groom want pictures. This is essential seeing as how a wedding just wouldn’t be the same without the closest people in your life. In what I thought felt like twenty rain-free minutes, we were able to bang these out and be efficient with the Charles and Jessica’s time. Almost instantly, my assistant and I kidnapped them for a quick bride and groom session. Since Siesta Alegre is all about the old school façade and greenery, we walked the venue looking for the best spot and, if you know ‘The Bridge’ then you know where it’s at.

To my surprise, the rest of the night flowed pretty smoothly. The rain never really subsided but we did what we could under the circumstances. Every now and then I’d have to scurry underneath a terrace just to make sure my expensive gear wouldn’t be damaged but, for the most part, the water coming down was tolerable and it made my job feasible. The first dance was lovely, Mom cut in as well with Jessica (which was very wholesome), tears were shed during the toasts and, all in all, I can honestly say we averted crisis and had an excellent wedding day, albeit the circumstances. Charles’s brother said it best: “They say rain on your wedding day is good luck”. Judging by Charles and Jessica’s chemistry: they won’t be needing any.

     In this article, I will outline my favorite (and highly recommended) venues as a Puerto Rico destination wedding photographer.

     Hacienda Siesta Alegre is a highly sought-after venue for brides and grooms in the heart of Río Grande, Puerto Rico. By being a neighbor to one of the most attractive locations, El Yunque, it presents many of the qualities you would like for a Puerto Rico wedding photographer like myself to capture: lush greenery, a cooler atmosphere in the mountains and an aesthetic reminiscent of a Spanish villa from the 1800s. As if that wasn’t enough reason to book your wedding here: it’s massive in size; I’ve shot cozy, intimate weddings in Puerto Rico at this venue but its incredible reach makes it an ideal destination wedding venue for couples looking for a spacious and lavish event to commemorate their special day.

     One of my favorite reasons why Hacienda Siesta Alegre is on my short list of preferred wedding venues in Puerto Rico is because it can accommodate every single stage of the wedding: from the bride and groom details and their getting ready process to the obligatory ceremony and late-night reception. The rooms are dark and moody which I find pairs extremely well with my editing style as a Puerto Rico destination wedding photographer but they’re distant enough from each other so that, if a first look is requested, gives us plenty of space to work and figure out where the best setting for that can be. Regardless of when inspiration hits me during weddings in Siesta Alegre, I can always count on a lovely backdrop to use for my photography at any given moment.

     If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Puerto Rico that has every little nook and cranny imaginable, look no further. Hacienda Siesta Alegre boasts luscious landscapes everywhere you look, rustic tonality through its robust wooden texture, private rooms for indoor bride and groom sessions, a large pool by the entrance and a wonderful grassy knoll popular for taking family and friends portraits after your wedding ceremony. One of the more iconic settings that I prefer at Hacienda Siesta Alegre is the bridge above the walkway the leads to the back part of the venue itself; it makes for amazing creative portraiture, specially when I take my couples out for a golden hour session paired with strategic flash photography. Something about Siesta Alegre brings out the best of me as a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico.

As if that wasn’t enough, when the Sun goes down Hacienda Siesta Alegre features on of the most ample and inviting dance floors for any wedding venue in Puerto Rico. In the middle of the reception area you can find a gorgeous fountain always flowing with crystal water with your entourage being able to sit on either side either enjoying the view or finishing their dinner so that they can join you in the fun. I typically enjoy placing some robust lights opposite of each other in the corners and, paired with my on-camera flash, thoroughly enjoying getting those wonderful reception pictures towards the end of the night. Picture the DJ playing your favorite music and the thrill of getting married in such a scenic canvas! If you’re considering Puerto Rico as the setting for your nuptials, Hacienda Siesta Alegre is a magnificent choice; take it from me a wedding photographer who has shot have plenty of times.

2. Copamarina Beach Resort

The metro area isn’t the only location harboring amazing wedding venues in this gorgeous paradise. The city of Guánica in the southwest corner of the island is home to one of my most frequented destinations as a Puerto Rico wedding photographer. I will say this: when you land in San Juan make sure you’ve got great gas mileage on your rental because the trip alone will take upwards of two hours just to arrive at the incredible Copamarina Beach Resort. They know me there quite well as I have been requested to shoot numerous elopments as well as lengthy weddings worthy of a spectacular setting. Copamarina features the best of what you’d expect a resort to have as well as one of the most epic sunsets you’ll ever witness as your stand in knee deep water watching as that fiery star in the sky waives goodbye.

     The reason why I hold Copamarina so near and dear to my heart is because not only does the resort boast some of the friendliest staff with whom I’ve ever worked, but it’s literally the best of both worlds: you have your amenities that you’d expect from a visiting tourist seeing a different city while simultaneously taking a few steps south and being surrounded by water, both pool and ocean. Speaking of the latter, the ocean during golden hour (those sixty minutes prior to the sun going down entirely) features some of the most breathtaking views you’ll ever lay eyes on for weddings in Puerto Rico. The picture you see above is, in fact, real: no Photoshop was involved in the making of that image and both Anthony and Joanne enjoyed a lavish purple hue at sunset.

     Copamarina feature an incredibly large parking area which is what you see when you first get there. This makes it the ideal wedding venue for a medium to large wedding which is what I, as a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico, am accustomed to shooting. They recently renewed their facilities making it even more attractive as you make your way into the classy lobby entrance. The plethora of available rooms seems never-ending as your walk to the rooms where the brides and groom are getting ready. It features numerous swimming pools, beach volleyball, kayaking in nearly still water, scuba diving and a pretty solid gym in the event you’re considering making Copamarina your wedding venue.

     Wedding photographers in Puerto Rico might agree that ceremonies at Copamarina are some of the most beautiful scenery you’ll experience while tying the knot. As is customary, most ceremonies take place on the left wing of the premises with the amazing salty bay in the background. Chairs are gathered in front of the archway of your choice draped over what’s left of the shadowy canopy from the palm trees up above. The grass is always freshly cut, you can hear the small waves crashing on the shore and it’s just a scene from a movie. One of my preferred ways of documenting wedding ceremonies here is by circling the couple because this gives me the opportunity to showcase their portraits with the varied backdrops Copamarina Beach Resort has to offer.

     Immediately after the ceremony, I typically enjoy taking pictures of the couple’s ‘shot list’: this is the breakdown of the family and friends portraits that they have willfully scheduled because of the fact that the entourage is still very much congregating in the area. Once we’ve efficiently maneuvered through these, I’ll sneak the couple away for my few favorite spots to take a solid bride and groom session. One of them is right on the beach with the sunset in the back. I thoroughly enjoy the flat sand here even though water is consistently flowing through it; there’s an essential shot that I as a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico always enjoy taking by dimming the couple’s background slightly so that I can capture that sunset perfectly while simultaneously using flash photography with a nice diffusion to highlight the couple in a sweet embrace.

3. Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde

As we make our way back into the city, another one of my favorite spots in the greater San Juan area as a Puerto Rico destination wedding photographer is the lovely Courtyard Marriott in Isla Verde. One of the primary reasons is because I’ve shot so many wedding in Puerto Rico here that I know every little corner of this wonderful gem in the metro area. This speaks to how highly requested this venue is for weddings in Puerto Rico. The Courtyard Marriott in Isla Verde is the best of both worlds: a wonderful city escape with a beach backyard worthy of some amazing memories. One minute you’re in the prototypical hotel lobby and a few hundred steps to the north lands you on warm sand where brides and grooms have enjoyed feeling them on their feet. By having the choice of these two options makes my life very versatile as a Puerto Rico wedding photographer.

One that that never flies under the radar for me is how my team and I are treated upon arrival; as I approach the front-desk, there’s always a smile on the attendant’s face and they never say no when I request a key card because that’s how the elevators work on my way up to the bride and groom’s rooms. When I vacate the elevator you’ll immediately see a floor to ceiling window that provides a lovely shot with either partner overlooking the ceremony and beach area. It’s somewhat of a backlit situation but, under the right camera settings, you can get an amazing portrait of the bride and/or groom shortly after they’ve gotten ready to tie the knot with me during a Puerto Rico destination wedding at the Courtyard Marriott in Isla Verde.

One of my must-have shots as a Puerto Rico photographer here is the walking down the aisle photographs as the bride makes her way to the archway that awaits; the shot you see above is the alternate version often used when couples don’t want to deal with the heat that is prevalent during weddings in Puerto Rico as well as inclement weather rears its ugly head at the most inopportune times. For the most part the climate conspires in our favor and having the bride walking on the grass as she holds her bouquet is a fabulous image that really sets the tone for how the ensuing ceremony will transpire. My methodology behind this set of pictures is to use my trusty 28-70mm zoom lens with a very low aperture so that I can combine a nice environmental portrait of the bride as well as encapsulate all of the things that make her exceptionally beautiful.

Similar to the Copamarina setting, the ceremony at the Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde often finds me circling the couple so that I can combine portraiture of them with the beach in the background as well as the small forest that lies to the right of the setting as you face the water. These are shots that as a photographer on the island I love having because the combination of the emotional vows coupled with the luscious landscapes surrounding the couple make for a perfect aesthetic during weddings in Puerto Rico. Shortly thereafter the ceremony we also love going straight into the family and friends portraits right then and there so that we can have the beach in the background. There is a set of tall palm trees that leads up to the ceremony venue that I enjoy using to frame the couple as well during the bride and groom outdoor sessions.

As the party gets started, I’ll move my equipment up to Las Brisas which is the most requested reception venue at the Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde. It is there that the toasts, first dances and dancing takes place underneath my favorite ceiling which is like having blinds carefully letting just enough light to play with as a Puerto Rico wedding photographer. It is here that, regardless of what angle you take, you can achieve amazing portraits with the light that still shines through the wraparound curtains providing a nice diffuse glow to everyone in Las Brisas. When night arrives and everyone is having fun, this reception venue then turns into my nightclub as I whip out some on-camera flash and starting playing around with shutter drag photography, a technique I use to add a little life to an otherwise boring wedding picture.
