A Love Story Session in Old San Juan With A Newborn Daughter
Addiel and Marimee brought their adorable newborn daughter to their love story session in Old San Juan and I got to document it as a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico.
As a passionate Puerto Rico wedding photographer, few experiences bring me as much joy as love story sessions with my couples. These pre-wedding photoshoots serve as the perfect opportunity to connect with my clients, ease any pre-camera jitters, and create a stunning collection of images that set the tone for their big day. Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Addiel and Marimee, a couple who booked me during the Caribbean Bridal Expo earlier this year. What started as a romantic stroll through Old San Juan evolved into a heartwarming family affair, leaving me with memories I’ll cherish for years.
When Addiel and Marimee arrived for their session, I was delighted to find their newborn daughter accompanying them. The last time I had seen them, Marimee was only a few months pregnant—a detail she had casually mentioned during our initial meeting. Seeing their little one was a beautiful surprise that added an unexpected layer of joy to the session. What could have been an ordinary engagement shoot quickly transformed into a celebration of love, life, and family.
We began the session in the heart of Old San Juan, a place that perfectly captures the vibrant essence of Puerto Rico. Addiel and Marimee, dressed in coordinating whites and pastels, naturally stood out against the city’s colorful colonial architecture. As a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico, I’ve come to appreciate how the hues of these historic streets enhance the romance and intimacy of every photo. The couple’s elegant yet relaxed attire not only complemented the setting but also reflected their shared calm and unity as a family.
The session began with some light-hearted prompts and simple poses to break the ice. Addiel and Marimee quickly embraced the moment, laughing and leaning into each other as we strolled along cobblestone paths. I could see their nervousness melt away as they grew comfortable in front of the camera. Watching them exchange knowing smiles and gentle touches reaffirmed why I love documenting love stories in Puerto Rico.
Midway through the session, we shifted focus to incorporate their newborn daughter. Cradled in her parents’ arms, the baby added a tender dynamic to the shoot. Moments like these remind me of the power of photography to tell a story that spans generations. The way Addiel held his daughter close and Marimee looked on with quiet pride spoke volumes about their journey together. These weren’t just photos; they were a testament to the love and life they’ve built as a family.
As the golden hour approached, we made our way toward El Morro, one of my favorite spots to include in love story sessions. The sprawling fortress, with its breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, provides an idyllic backdrop for capturing timeless images. The evening light painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, adding an ethereal quality to the photos. Watching Addiel and Marimee share this moment with their daughter felt almost cinematic—a perfect finale to our time together.
For me, being a Puerto Rico wedding photographer isn’t just about snapping beautiful pictures. It’s about creating an experience that allows couples to connect, relax, and enjoy themselves. Addiel and Marimee’s session was the epitome of this philosophy. We laughed, shared stories, and even got a bit sentimental as we reflected on their journey so far. It was a reminder of why I love what I do: helping people preserve the fleeting, magical moments that make life extraordinary.
The images we captured that day will serve multiple purposes. Not only will they be cherished family keepsakes, but they’ll also add a touch of personal flair to their wedding. Many of my couples use love story photos for save-the-dates, wedding websites, or decor at their reception. For Addiel and Marimee, these photos are more than just a sneak peek of their wedding day—they’re a celebration of their new chapter as a family.
Old San Juan proved, yet again, to be the perfect canvas for this love story. From the iconic cobblestone streets to the dramatic sunset at El Morro, the city brought its unique charm to every frame. As one of the most sought-after wedding photographers in Puerto Rico, I feel incredibly fortunate to call this vibrant island both my home and my workplace. There’s no better place to document love in all its forms.
As I look back on Addiel and Marimee’s session, I’m reminded that every couple brings something special to the table. Whether it’s a shared sense of humor, a personal story, or a surprise addition to the shoot, it’s these details that make each love story unique. And as their wedding day approaches, I can’t wait to capture the next chapter in their journey together.
Old San Juan will always hold a special place in my heart, and this session with Addiel, Marimee, and their daughter is a perfect example of why. It’s not just about the pictures—it’s about the memories we create along the way.
A Romantic Couple's Photoshoot in Old San Juan
Sai and Uha, Indian couple in Old San Juan shot by a Puerto Rico wedding photographer.
Puerto Rico is a magical place for couples looking to celebrate their love, and as a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico, it’s always a delight to meet people like Sai and Uha, whose story added even more charm to my portfolio. The couple, visiting the island for just a few days, reached out to me last minute to capture their time in paradise. Without hesitation, we scheduled their session in the heart of Old San Juan, where the vibrant streets and historic backdrops provide endless opportunities for breathtaking photography.
We began the session at the picturesque El Convento Hotel, a historic venue rich in color and texture. Sai looked incredibly sharp in a sleek black suit, which paired beautifully with Uha’s dazzling red gown adorned with sparkles. Adding to their elegant look was a petite bouquet of three roses that became a simple yet striking prop throughout the shoot. Beneath the hotel’s canopy, the interplay of light and shadows created a dramatic ambiance that made their portraits pop.
From El Convento, we ventured to Caleta de Las Monjas, a cobblestone street steeped in history. The narrow alley, framed by colorful walls and wrought iron details, was the perfect place to create intimate images. As we moved through the street, Sai and Uha’s chemistry shone through, making my job as a photographer both easy and deeply rewarding.
Their request to include El Morro, Puerto Rico’s iconic fortress, was no surprise. However, I encouraged us to take a detour to capture moments along the way. Walking the streets of Old San Juan offered countless candid opportunities, from gentle laughs shared over the roses to quiet moments with the ocean breeze in the background. These spontaneous shots added a layer of authenticity to their gallery, showcasing their genuine connection amidst the vibrancy of Puerto Rico.
As a Puerto Rico wedding photographer, I pride myself on adapting to my clients’ visions while weaving in my creative touch. At El Morro, I embraced the challenge of balancing Sai and Uha’s desire for classic fortress shots with my inclination for fresh perspectives. Using the sweeping landscapes and dramatic skies as our backdrop, we captured timeless images that truly encapsulated the essence of their bond.
The bouquet of roses became more than a prop—it was a symbol of the simplicity and beauty of their love. We used it to highlight certain poses, such as Sai gently holding the flowers while Uha smiled at him, and even as a playful element during candid moments. The red roses paired effortlessly with Uha’s dress, creating a striking color palette against the soft tones of the historic walls.
Old San Juan’s charm lies not just in its landmarks but also in its quiet corners. A secluded bench, a rustic doorway, or the reflection of light on cobblestones can transform a photograph into something extraordinary. Sai and Uha’s session reminded me why I love working as a photographer in this enchanting city; every corner tells a story waiting to be captured.
When we finally reached El Morro, the expansive view was worth the walk. Against the fortress’s iconic stone walls and lush green grounds, Sai and Uha’s love took center stage. The light was perfect, casting a soft glow that enhanced the mood of their final portraits. It was the perfect conclusion to a shoot that blended elegance, spontaneity, and adventure.
Being a wedding photographer in Puerto Rico is more than just documenting special moments; it’s about connecting with people and helping them preserve their memories in meaningful ways. Sai and Uha’s session is a testament to the beauty of love and the magic of Puerto Rico as a destination.
